Volunteer Positions

Volunteers are welcome and much needed in all of our programs. We depend on the generosity of volunteers to help us facilitate our programs in health, housing, education, economic development and art.  Volunteers can assist in any of our daily activities according to your interest and skills. We currently have the following volunteer positions available:

Social Media Volunteer – Do you tweet, blog, post, check‐in or hash tag on a daily basis? Esperanza is seeking mobile volunteers to support our social media outreach. We are building our online presence through various social media tools and are in search of independent volunteers to help build our audience by retweeting, sharing and reposting our organizational messages. Time: None specified. Training: Initial one hour training to review online organizational policies prior to volunteering.  Human  Resources  Assistant:  Volunteer  wanted  to  support  a  variety  of  human  resource  duties  including maintaining  the  human  resource  database  and  employee  files,  entering  time  sheets,  time  allocation, completes   assigned   reporting   functions   involving   attendance   statistics,   termination,   hire   and   transfer data,  coordinates  safety  trainings,  assists  in  new  employee  enrollment  activities,  and  communication  as needed.  Performs  general  office  support  functions  and  assists  area  personnel  as  necessary.    Time: A minimum  commitment  of  3 -­ 6  months  two  times  per  week  during  M-­F  office  hours.  TrainingNo experience  necessary  as  full  training  is  provided.    Knowledge  of  Microsoft  office  with  emphasis  on  excel.  Please contact lilian@esperanzacommunityhousing.org if you are interested in a Human Resources Assistant position.

Administrative Volunteer: Volunteer wanted to support the organizational administration. The daily activities of an administrative volunteer may include answering the telephone, filing, faxing, assisting visitors, managing the daily office schedule, calendar, meetings, coordinate office supplies, arrange repairs and maintenance for office equipment and support employee office moves with facilities. Additional administrative duties may include working on special projects, supporting technical assistance, supporting mailings, etc. Training: No experience is necessary as full training is provided. Time: A minimum commitment of 6 months for at least four hours a week during M‐F 8am­‐5pm office hours is required. Accounting Volunteer: Volunteer wanted to provide transactional and administrative services relating to the execution of accounting functions and the maintenance of accounting paperwork, including billing, full cycle of accounts receivable, cash receipts, and collections, inventory of furniture and equipment, compliance, contract reports. Accounting assistants may use manual and automated accounting systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on excel is needed. Time:  A minimum commitment of 3 months for at least 4 hours per week during M‐F 8am­‐5pm office hours. Training: No experience necessary as full training is provided.
