Esperanza improves the quality and affordability of housing in our neighborhood by developing new family apartments and rehabilitating existing properties. Our properties are clustered in different parts of the Figueroa Corridor neighborhood and serve very low-income families.

Health
Our comprehensive community health program offers a range of services to the community, focused on ensuring essential health education and access to health care for neighborhood residents. Our trained, bilingual Community Health Promoters provide these services through door-to-door outreach, as well as at two health program offices in the community.

Arts and Sciences
 Ashely and Monarch
ECHC's Arts and Science Program provides low income children, youth, and their families with the opportunity to experience hands-on art, cultural, nature, and science activities. Through partnerships with area artists, performers, museums, science and cultural centers, gardens, and environmental organizations, the Arts and Science Program is able to provide community members with field trips, classes, workshops, and festivals on an on-going basis.

Mercado La Paloma
Mercado La Paloma ("The Dove" Marketplace) is creating a neighborhood focal point and gathering place, integrating multiple aspects of community building, including economic development, health, arts, community outreach and education. The rich variety of activities at La Paloma resulted from the very involved, community planning process. Over 5 years, ECHC staff met at least monthly with local residents, including prospective entrepreneurs. Every stage of the planning process underwent detailed discussion, from the business and service mix to the specifics of the design.
