María Bejarano is a Community Health Promoter. She graduated in 1996 from the Esperanza Community Health Promoters Program. She has worked in South Central for over 25 years in the fields of asthma management, lead poisoning prevention, and pest eradication using the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) method. She is a member of the Healthy Homes team. She loves helping her community. She has helped many people manage their children's asthma, as well as their own. She has visited hundreds of homes and has contributed to reducing emergency room visits, as well as school and work absences. She is married and has four children and two grandchildren. She is originally from the state of Colima, Mexico. Her motto is: "Small changes make a big difference.
