Esperanza Community Housing Corporation’s Department of Policy implements and aligns policy efforts with the organization's mission.
Using a racial, class, immigrant, and gender justice lens, the Policy Department outlines principles and strategies with which to engage in policy advocacy both within coalition spaces and as an individual organization.
Overall, the Policy Department uplifts the message that housing is a health and human right and is inextricably tied to racial justice, health, climate and environmental justice, economic justice, immigrant justice, and more.
Our goal is to center South LA community members living on the frontlines of multiple crises (including the affordability, housing, and climate crisis) and their lived experiences to city, county, and state policy efforts, with a deep focus on health and affordable housing, equitable development, and environmental and climate justice.
